## The Approvals Inbox

**Inbox** lists every post in review. **Reviews** shows one review at a time with all the posts in it. When posts are waiting on you, the header says how many, for example **2 waiting on you**.

The inbox is always grouped:

| Group | What It Holds |
| ----------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Your turn | Posts waiting on you that you can decide on |
| In progress | Posts waiting on someone else, and posts with changes requested |
| Done | Posts that are approved, overridden or need a time, and posts whose review was cancelled or expired |

Each row shows the channel, the scheduled time, the post and its status. A post still waiting at a stage also shows where it is, for example **Stage 1 of 2 · waiting on you**.

To narrow the list, pick a channel, choose **Closing soon** to show reviews that close within 48 hours, or type in **Search approvals...**. Choose **All dates** to show every review again.

## Reviewing a Post

Select a post in the inbox to open it.

* **Details** shows each stage and who is in it, the version under review, when the review closes and the workflow it came from.
* The conversation has two tabs. **Team only** holds your team's notes and every decision and new version. **Shared with client** shows exactly what your client sees.
* The preview shows the post as it will appear. On a smaller screen, switch between **Chat** and **Preview**. When there is more than one version, pick **Original**, an earlier version or **Latest** above the preview.

## Approving or Requesting Changes

**Approve** and **Request changes** appear when it is your turn.

1. Select **Approve**.
2. Check the version number in **Approve this version?** and select **Approve**.

To ask for changes instead:

1. Select **Request changes**.
2. Write what needs to change. A note is required.
3. Select **Request changes**.

What your approval does depends on the stage:

* With **Any one approves**, the first approval finishes the stage.
* With **Everyone approves**, the stage waits for everyone in it.
* With **In order**, you are asked only after the person before you approves.

When a stage finishes, the people in the next stage are told it is waiting for them. When the last stage approves, the post is scheduled. A change request sends the post back to its author and tells the person who sent it for review. The review starts again from the first stage when they share a new version.

## Changing Your Mind

Open **More review actions**, the three dots at the top right of the post.

* **Request changes instead** withdraws your approval. Enter a reason and select **Request changes**. Publishing pauses until a new version is shared.
* **Retract changes request** takes back your own change request. You are asked to decide again, and everyone else's approvals stay.

You can change your mind until the post is published or the review closes.

## Overriding a Review

Only Managers can override. Use it when a post has to go out before every stage has approved it.

1. Open the post and select **More review actions**.
2. Select **Override and approve**.
3. Enter the reason and select **Override**.

The override approves the post and skips every remaining stage, client stages included. Everyone in the review, your client included, sees that it was overridden and the reason. Maeve Social does not send a notification for it.

An override is the only way past a required workflow. A Manager can undo it with **Reverse override**, which sends the review back to its first stage.

## Scheduling From Approvals

Managers and Editors can change a post's time from **Approvals**. Moving the time never resets an approval.

* **Schedule** appears on an approved post that has no time. Pick a date and time, then select **Save time**.
* **Reschedule** in **More review actions** moves the time.
* **Remove scheduled time** takes the post out of the queue and keeps its approval.
* **Publish now** sends an approved, scheduled post out straight away.

| Role | In a Review |
| ------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Manager | Send reviews to the team and to clients, decide when in a stage, override, and set up workflows |
| Editor | Send reviews to the team and to clients, and decide when in a stage |
| Creator | Ask the team for a review, and decide when in a stage |
| Viewer | Read reviews |

## Questions

### What is the difference between Any one approves and Everyone approves?

Any one approves finishes the stage at the first approval. Everyone approves waits until everyone in the stage has approved.

### How does In order work?

In order is for a team stage set to Everyone approves. People are asked one at a time, top to bottom, and each person is asked only after the person before them approves.

### Why can I not approve a post?

Approve appears only when the post is at a stage you are in and it is your turn. In an in-order stage, the people above you approve first. Viewers cannot decide.

### How do I find what needs me first?

Look under Your turn in the inbox. Choose Closing soon to see reviews that close within 48 hours.

### Can I approve a post after its scheduled time has passed?

Yes. Maeve Social clears the past time when the post is approved, and someone who can schedule picks a new one.

### Who can override a review?

Only Managers. The override needs a reason, approves the post, and skips every remaining stage, including client stages.

### Does my client see an override?

Yes. Everyone in the review, clients included, sees that it was overridden and the reason.
