# Linking Tasks to Content

Updated September 12, 2026

Link a task to the post it relates to so you can find the work from either place. A task can link to one post, and a post can have several linked tasks.

## Link an Existing Task

1. Open the task and click **Link content** below the title.
2. Search for the post by title, notes, caption or platform.
3. Use the filters or sort menu if you need to narrow the results.
4. Select the post to link it.

| Control | Options |
| --------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Stage | Idea, Draft, Review, Scheduled or Published |
| Board placement | On content board or Off board |
| Sort | Recently updated, Recently created, Title A-Z or On board first |

The linked post appears below the task's properties. Click it to open the content. To choose a different post, click **Change**.

The link applies to the whole post, including its channel versions. You cannot link a task only to one channel's version.

## Create a Task From a Post

1. Open a saved post in the composer and select **Tasks**.
2. Enter a title in **Add a task for this content**.
3. Click **Create**.
4. Open the new task to add assignees, a due date or other details.

The task is already linked to the post and also appears on the task board. If the post is new, save it before adding linked tasks.

## Check Linked Work

The composer's **Tasks** tab lists the post's linked tasks with their columns and assignees. Click a task to open it.

On the Content Board, the post card shows completed tasks out of the total. Hover over the badge to see how many are still open.

A task counts as completed when it is in the default **Done** column, even if you renamed that column. Completing checklist items alone does not complete the task or change this count.

## Remove a Link

1. Open the task from the task board or the post's **Tasks** tab.
2. Click **Unlink** beside the linked content.

The task and post both remain. Linking, changing the linked post and unlinking are recorded in the task's **Activity** tab.

### How do I link a task to a post?

Open the task, click Link content, find the post using search or filters, and select it.

### Can I go the other way?

Yes. Open a saved post in the composer, select Tasks, enter a task title, and click Create. The new task is already linked.
