Approvals and Autonomy
Updated
The workspace's Autonomy setting controls when Maeve asks before making supported changes. It does not add new abilities or override your permissions.
Save a draft
Create a workspace draft titled September workshop.
Choose an Approval Setting
- Open Settings > Autonomy under Maeve.
- Read the available options.
- Select the setting you want for this workspace. The change saves when you select it.
Only an organization Owner or Admin can change this setting.
| Setting | Current Behavior |
|---|---|
| Always ask | Maeve asks before making a change, including saving a draft or applying a caption edit. Lookups do not need approval. |
| Ask for publishing | Supported internal changes can run without a separate approval card when you request them. This is the default. |
| Autonomous | Currently behaves like Ask for publishing for the actions available to Maeve. |
Despite the setting names, the assistant does not currently have scheduling, publishing or deletion actions. You complete those tasks using the app's normal controls.
Review an Approval Card
- Read the proposed action and its summary in the chat.
- Check the target draft or caption and the change being proposed.
- Click Approve to allow that action, or Reject to decline it.
- Read the result after approval to confirm whether it completed.
Approving an action is permission to attempt it. A failure afterward means the requested result still needs checking.
Change the Request
If the proposal is wrong, reject it and send a corrected instruction. For example:
Use the LinkedIn version instead, and keep the final sentence.
A direct request is still required for a caption edit. Asking for advice does not become permission to change the caption just because the workspace uses Autonomous.
Keep Your Existing Permissions
Maeve acts within your workspace permissions. Changing the autonomy setting does not give you access to another person's private page or let you perform an action your role cannot perform.
These chat approvals are separate from internal post approvals and client reviews. Approving a Maeve action does not sign off a post for publication.
Questions
What is the default autonomy setting?
Ask for publishing.
Who can change the setting?
An organization Owner or Admin. The setting applies to the selected workspace.
Does Autonomous let Maeve publish posts?
No. The assistant does not currently expose scheduling or publishing actions. Autonomous currently behaves like Ask for publishing for its available actions.
How do I require approval for every change?
Select Always ask in Settings > Autonomy under Maeve. Read-only lookups still do not need approval.
What happens when I reject an action?
That proposal is declined. Send a revised request if you want Maeve to propose a different change.
Is this the same as approving a post?
No. It approves the assistant's proposed action, not the post's internal or client approval workflow.
