Editing an Open Caption
Updated
Open an editable post before asking Maeve to change its caption. A direct edit request can update the caption in that editor.

UndoRequest a Caption Change
- Open the post in the composer.
- Check that you are working on the intended draft and channel version.
- Click Ask Maeve in the bottom bar.
- Tell Maeve what to change. Name the channel if the post has several versions.
- Review an approval card if one appears, then check the caption in the editor.
For example:
Replace this Instagram caption with a shorter version. Keep the date and booking link, and remove the hashtags.
A request such as "What do you think of this caption?" asks for advice. Use a direct instruction such as "Replace this caption" when you want the text changed.
Read the Edit Result
| Result | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Updated in the editor | The new text is in the open caption field |
| Not applied | The change did not reach the caption, for example because the editor changed first |
| Failed | Maeve could not apply the change; read the accompanying message |
An update in the editor still follows the composer's saving behavior. Use Save when shown, or check that autosave has completed before leaving.
Undo a Caption Change
If the result includes Undo, click it to restore the previous caption. Undo can be refused if the editor has changed since Maeve applied the text. Read the message and edit the caption manually if needed.
Keep the intended post open while Maeve works. Switching drafts or closing the editor can prevent a pending change from applying.
Finish the Post
Review the wording and check that required facts and links remain. Set media, labels and publishing times with the composer's controls. Maeve's current editing action changes caption text; it does not schedule or publish the post.
Questions
How do I ask Maeve to change a caption directly?
Open the editable post, click Ask Maeve, and give a direct instruction such as Replace this caption with a shorter version.
Why did I get advice instead of an edit?
A question about the wording can be answered in chat. Ask explicitly for the caption to be changed and keep the intended editor open.
Does Updated in the editor mean the post was saved?
It means the caption field changed. Saving still follows the composer's Save or autosave behavior.
Can I undo the change?
Use Undo on the result when available. If later editor changes prevent undo, adjust the caption manually.
What should I do if the result says Not applied?
Check the message and the current editor. Ask again with the correct post open, or apply the wording yourself.
