Choose a Metric
The metric choices are organized by stage.
| Stage | Examples |
|---|---|
| Cadence | Published posts, video content, active publishing days |
| Awareness | Reach, views, follower growth |
| Engagement | Engagement rate, likes, comments, saves |
| Traffic | Clicks and supported profile metrics |
| Outcome | A custom result you record manually |
Choose the metric that matches the result you want to track. Available scopes and account choices depend on the metric's data support.
Set Tracking and Scope
Automated goals use the data Maeve collects. Check the selected channels and metric before saving; not every network supplies every measurement.
Manual goals let you name a metric and choose its measurement type. Use these for results you record yourself, such as bookings or event sign-ups. A manual goal can also represent a yes-or-no result.
For supported metrics, narrow the scope to a pillar, format, campaign, or label. The wizard only shows the relevant controls. Check the final summary to confirm which accounts and content will count.
Review the Starting Point
Some goals accumulate results from zero during the period. Others compare a starting value with a target. Automated starting-point goals show a baseline from the last 30 days where available.
For manual starting-point goals, enter the current value yourself. Use the target controls to define growth or reduction where that goal type supports it.
Read Goal Status
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Upcoming | The period has not started |
| On track | Current progress is near the expected pace |
| Ahead | Progress is ahead of the expected pace |
| At risk | Progress is below the expected pace |
| Behind | Progress is further below the expected pace |
| Achieved | The target has been reached |
| Missed | The period ended without reaching the target |
Pace depends on both progress and elapsed time. Check the value, dates, and metric coverage alongside the status.
Log Manual Progress
- Open the manual goal's progress control.
- In Log progress, enter the Current value.
- Add an optional Note explaining the update.
- Click Save.
Enter the current total, not the amount to add. If bookings increased from 12
to 15, enter 15, not 3.
Questions
What can I set a goal on?
Choose an automated metric from the wizard or define a manual metric for a result you track yourself.
Which goal should I set first?
Choose the metric that matches the result you want to measure. A published-post target is available when you want to track cadence.
Does Maeve update goals on its own?
Automated goals update from data Maeve collects. Their coverage depends on the metric and selected accounts.
How do I track something Maeve cannot see?
Choose Manual in the goal wizard, define the metric, and use Log progress to record its current value.
Can a goal be yes or no?
Yes. Manual goals support a yes-or-no measurement.
Can I set a goal for one channel?
Where the metric supports channel selection, choose the channel in the wizard and check the review summary.
Can I set a goal on one content theme?
For supported metrics, use the pillar, format, campaign, or label scope controls.
What is the difference between at risk and behind?
Both indicate progress below the expected pace. Behind indicates a larger shortfall. Read the current value and period alongside the status.
Can a goal target a decrease?
Where the goal type supports it, set a target below the starting value. Check the review summary before saving.
