The Eight Failure Types

Reconnect an Account

For Connection expired, click Reconnect for the affected platform and complete the connection steps. Return to Failed Posts afterward.

Once Maeve recognizes the restored connection, the guidance changes to say the account is connected again. Click Retry post to publish that post now. Reconnecting does not resend failed posts.

Complete an Account Check

For Account action required, follow the instruction in the error message. For example, Facebook may require you to confirm your identity in its app before publishing as a Page.

Complete that check on the network, then return to Maeve and click Retry post. Reconnecting alone does not complete an identity check.

Restore X API Credits

For Credits depleted, top up the X developer account used by the connection, then return and retry the post. These are X API credits, separate from Maeve AI credits.

If the message says X trial publish limit reached, follow Upgrade instead. That limit requires a billing change in Maeve and is not resolved by topping up X API credits.

Correct a Rejected Post

For Rejected by platform, read the specific error before clicking Edit & Reschedule. It may identify a media requirement, duplicate content, or another platform restriction.

Make the required change in the composer, choose a new time, and reschedule. Do not assume every rejection has the same cause.

Replace a Missed Time

For Missed schedule, click Edit & Reschedule and choose a new publishing time. This recovery mode replaces the schedule; it does not offer the same content editing as recovery from a platform rejection.

Retry a Temporary Failure

For Temporary service issue, click Retry post once the issue has cleared. A retry starts another publishing attempt. It can fail again if the cause remains.

Maeve can retry temporary issues while a publishing job is still active. Once a post is marked failed and offers manual recovery, you need to act on it.

Check an Unknown Result

For Publishing outcome unknown, check the affected account directly on the network before clicking Confirm result. The post may already be live.

Follow When Maeve Cannot Tell If It Published to record what you find.

Handle an Unclassified Failure

For Failed to publish, read the error and use the available action. You can retry when offered, or delete the failed post if you no longer need it.

Available controls depend on the post's current state, recommended recovery, and your workspace role. A category does not guarantee that a particular button will be available.

Questions

How many kinds of failure are there?

Eight: Connection expired, Account action required, Credits depleted, Rejected by platform, Missed schedule, Temporary service issue, Publishing outcome unknown, and Failed to publish.

Which failure is most common?

The category list does not rank failures by frequency. Read the category and specific error on your post to choose the next step.

Why is there no retry on a rejected post?

The recommended recovery is to address the rejection in the composer. Click Edit & Reschedule and follow the specific error message.

What does account action required mean?

Complete the requested action on the network, such as a Facebook identity check, then return to Maeve and retry.

What are credits depleted?

The X developer account used by the connection has run out of API credits. Top it up there, then retry. These are separate from Maeve AI credits.

Why does a missed schedule need rescheduling rather than retrying?

The original publishing window has passed. Use Edit & Reschedule to choose a new time.

Why do different failures offer different buttons?

The controls depend on the recommended recovery, the post's current state, and your workspace role.
