Sending Work for Review
Updated
Open Schedule in the composer and select Request review to require approval before a post publishes. Reviews are available on Standard and Premium.

The Three Modes
| Mode | Who Reviews the Post |
|---|---|
| Internal review | Selected people with access to your workspace |
| Client review | External reviewers using a review link |
| Internal + Client | Your team first, followed by the client |
Choose Internal + Client when your team needs to check the work before sharing it externally. New versions remain private until internal approval is complete and the version is sent to the client.
Setting a Review
- Open the post in the composer and select Schedule.
- Under Review Workflow, select Request review.
- Choose the review mode.
- For internal review, select an approval policy and approvers. For client review, choose or create a batch and enter its reviewer details.
- Select Confirm to apply the setup, then complete the post's save or submission action in the composer.
- Open Approvals to check the post's status. If it belongs to an unsent client batch, send the batch when it is ready.
For internal review, the submission button reads Submit for Internal Approval or Submit Draft for Internal Approval. For client review, use the button to create or add to the selected batch.
Confirming the review setup does not itself send a client invitation. See Client Review Batches for the send steps.
To change a review, use its controls under Review Workflow. If Remove review is available, select it and save the change. Check the resulting schedule and status before leaving the post.
The Post Keeps Its Time
Requesting review keeps the post's scheduled time. Publishing remains paused until the required approvals are complete. If approval finishes before the scheduled time, the post can publish at that time.
A post still awaiting approval when its time arrives does not publish.
What Holds a Post Up
Read the review status on the post and take the corresponding action.
| Status | What to Do |
|---|---|
| Internal approval is still pending | Wait for the required approvers |
| Internal changes have been requested | Read the feedback, edit, and resubmit |
| Client review has not been sent yet | Open the batch and send it when ready |
| Client review is still pending | Check which reviewers still need to respond |
| The client is reviewing an older version | Send the latest version after any required internal approval |
| Client changes have been requested | Update the post and share a new version |
| Client review link has expired | Resolve the expired review before expecting the post to publish |
| This post needs a schedule before publishing | Set a future publish time |
A Post With No Time Yet
You can request approval before choosing a publish time. An approved post with no schedule waits for your team to schedule it.
Open the post's scheduling controls, select a future date and time, and confirm. Check the workspace timezone and the final status.
Questions
What are the three review modes?
Internal review uses workspace approvers. Client review uses external reviewers with a link. Internal then client requires your team to approve before the version is sent to the client.
Does requesting a review clear the scheduled time?
No. The post keeps its scheduled time, but publishing waits for the required approvals.
What happens if a post is still in review when its time arrives?
It does not publish. Internal approval requires you to reschedule first. If client approval finishes after the scheduled time, Maeve clears that expired schedule and your team must set a new one.
Why can I not approve a post?
Read the message on the post. Internal approval is blocked if the scheduled time has passed. Your role, assigned approvers, and approval order also determine whether you can approve.
Can I send a post for review before I have scheduled it?
Yes. Approval can finish before you choose a publish time. The post still needs a future schedule to publish.
How do I take a review off a post?
If Remove review is available under Review Workflow in the Schedule panel, select it and save the change. Check the resulting schedule and status.
Which plans include reviews?
Standard and Premium include internal approvals and client reviews.
